"Marquis de Sade"

Plot Summary: " Based on the true story of the notorious Marquis de Sade. In 18th century Paris, an innocent beauty's search for her missing sister leads her into the deadly sensuous realm of the infamous Marquis de Sade. Imprisoned for his sordid crimes, the Marquis likewise has the beauty morally trapped... for she must help him complete his banned book of lust, or never learn the fate of her sister. It becomes a test of wills and wit, as the Marquis attempts to convert her to his deviously sexual philosophy. When the Marquis escapes his prison, she must follow him to his remote chateau of sin to finally discover her sister's fate, and to face her own....."  I'm going to go back to my first rule - "never have a woman director in a BDSM film". Why? Well, because they always want to have a classy production (which usually means no below the waist shots and little action but a lot of talking) which turns off most men viewers. This is no exception even though she is a Roger Corman taught director. In fact, the women are attractive, the lighting is good and the scenery is lush. But this is a story about Marguis de Sade not some fucking Sunday school teacher. It had some whipping scenes and if you have a good imagination, you could probably see more than is actually on the screen, so I will recommend this movie as light entertainment. But clearly it's not as good as some of the other de Sade movies available and I keep coming back to this movie has a woman's director which brings me back to my first rule.
