"Re-Animator"

Plot Summary: "In this H.P. Lovecraft tale, Herbert West (Combs) is a Swiss scientist who has discovered a fluid which brings living tissue back to life. After the suspicious death of his professor in Switzerland, West moves to Miskatonic University to continue his research. Fascinated by West's research, a friend agrees to smuggle him into the hospital morgue with predictable results."  This is a wonderful, sumptuous, black comedy which is one of Hank's Top 25 movies. Everyone is perfectly cast in this Lovecraft story and this may be the best work by director Stuart Gordon - certainly his most famous. Amazingly, this damsel in distress horror film was made for less than one million dollars. A tremendous amount of gore and blood is mixed throughout the movie but always with a tongue in cheek humor that will allow the viewer to relax and enjoy the movie. Barbara Crampton, a classic B actress who has appeared in many famous "b" movies, is the damsel in distress and she has a ton of fun with it.  The un-rated version has even more nude scenes of Ms. Crampton many of which she is haming for the camera. If you like black comedies, the un-cut version of this movie should be in your libary.
