"Soldier Blue"

Plot Summary: "After a cavalry group is massacred by the Cheyenne, only two survivors remain: Honus (Peter Strauss), a naive private devoted to his duty, and Cresta (Candice Bergen), a young woman who had lived with the Cheyenne two years and whose sympathies lie more with them than with the US government. Together, they must try to reach the cavalry's main base camp. As they travel onward, Honus is torn between his growing affection for Cresta, and his disgust for her anti-American beliefs. They reach the cavalry campsite on the eve of an attack on a Cheyenne village, where Honus will learn which side has really been telling him the truth".  On November 29th, 1864, members of the Colorado Militia, led by Colonel Chivington, massacred a Cheyenne village at Sand Creek, killing over 500 Indians, more than half of them women and children. There were reports of rapings and mutilation of the bodies. It was a horrific, shameful chapter in U.S. military history, and was immediately and rightly condemned by the government, military and the people of the United States. Soldier Blue, director Ralph Nelson's "revisionist" western from 1970, wraps a fictitious story around this historical event and I really liked this movie. Candice Bergen as the main damsel in distress and Peter Strauss where both excellent and the scenery and photography is both top notch. If you enjoy oaters and BDSM and damsel in distress, I recommend this movie as one that you'll enjoy.
