The first half of the movie is divided into three parts. The first where Phillip (Pierre Dulet) meets Mary (Andrea Edmondson) and develops a friendship with her. She visits him at his home to bury her pet and has dinner with him and then he proposes to pay her to be his pet for two or three days. The second part is where she spends her first day as a pet shown on gallery one. And the third is when she spends the time as a pet during the second day. The agreement was that she would be paid $10.000 for being the pet for two days. And while she is obviously pissed that she is having to go around "bare ass naked", she thinks she can do anything in just two days so even through Phillip gives her a chance to leave after one day, she tells him she'll stick out for another day. The second half of the movie is when he proposes that she spends six months as his pet for $50,000.00. The telling line and the one that shows the writer understands BDSM is when she tells him "it's not about the money." She simply enjoys being his submissive pet and she wants to be near him. Most of the second half is devoted to him training her as she becomes more and more dependent upon him as her master. The middle part of this movie is the heart of the story - where there is a complete power exchange, where trust and love is developed. She simply become his obedient pet and loves her new role. Trust me, it does happen everyday.
